Kept forgetting to blog this down. She started to say "egg" and "猫猫" recently.
Whenever she said egg, it would sound like she's trying to force her poo out. She would said "Egkkkk" with some force. :p And for "猫猫", the voice is so girl. And most of the times, quite high pitch. Very cute. :)
Her language skills are not developing as fast as her motor skills. But at least, I can see that she's getting better albeit a bit slower. But nonetheless, I will try not to be so stressful in wanting her to talk more. Her language will improve as time goes by. We will just have to wait and let it flow naturally.
Sick again

Mother and daughter fell sick together on the same day. Kristy was supposed to have her Chicken Pox vaccination yesterday but she suddenly developed a fever on Monday evening. So I had to call the polyclinic to cancel the appointment.
She also had running nose and a slight cough (not sure if it's real cough or just irritation due to the mucus from the nose) which started around the same day as the fever. Brought her to see PD last night. The PD tried to make Kristy open her mouth to have a look at her throat. But Kristy just wouldn't want to open. With no other ways, the PD asked her to hold Kristy still so that she can "force" open Kristy's open with the big ice-cream stick. It made Kristy choked a bit and she cried after all was done. PD said her throat looked okay, so the cough should be due to the irritation of the mucus. PD gave her the normal nose drip and running nose syrup. And we are to monitor her temperature.
Called my mother just now, the fever had gone. But the running nose is still around but no cough though. Hope she will recover soon. And I'm also wondering if it's due to teething. Hmm. We'll see.
Singapore Fireworks Festival 2006

Yesterday was the first day of the Singapore Fireworks Festival. We decided to bring Kristy there to see. Yesterday's fireworks was by the Italians. It was good. Weather was good too. The wind helped to blow the smoke away after each blast. So the fireworks were clear and pretty.
We drove the car down and park along the road near Fullerton Hotel. Basically the road (I don't know the road name) was congested. The 1st and 2nd lanes were occupied by cars which had stopped to view the fireworks. Later into the show, the 3rd lane were also "blocked", leaving only the 4th lane passable but slow. Horns started to sound but not to much use. :p
Kristy enjoyed every part of the fireworks even though she was feeling sleepy due to insufficient sleep during the afternoon. She was not even scared of it. After the show, when we asked her where is the fireworks, she will show the "no more" hand signal. :p Will be bringing her to the 2nd show by Singaporeans next Tuesday. :) And next Friday and next Saturday. :0
I were taking the video throughout but due to some settings, the video came out very small in size. Grrrrrrr. Meanwhile, just enjoy. :p (Video still uploading in YouTube.) Will upload some more later on.

Swimming

Sunday, 06 August 2006
Kristy had her first swim on 16th July. Before that I was wondering if she could still fit into the swimming suit that I had bought for her last Nov in Hong Kong. Luckily, it could still fit. :p But she doesn't like the collar as it is irritating her neck. She would start to whine once she's wearing it. Will have to wait till she outgrown this before I could get her a new one.
Ever since the first swim, we had fixed Sunday to be a swimming day unless it rained. Kristy gradually grew out of the fear in swimming. When she first started, she wouldn't dare to step into the water, even though if we put her onto the float. We had to slowly warmed her up. Splashing water lightly on her. Slowly, she began to like it. And till today, she had some sort of started swimming with the arm floats. Plenty of pool water had been consumed of course.
She would lower her mouth to the water and splurt out the water. :p I did not take any photos in the swimming pool as all of us are in the pool with her. You can see photos of her in the swim suit in her gallery.

Fever and a freak accident
Written by Karen
Sunday, 23 July 2006
Kristy had a fever on Tuesday. It started suddenly in the afternoon. Mother gave me a call and I asked her to feed her the panadol that the polyclinic nurse gave last week. We were wondering if it's due to the MMR jab as the fever would come (if any) in 5-7 days time. If it doesn't come by the 10th day, then there should be no chance of any fever. Her fever temperature ranged between 37.8 to 38.3. Brought her to see Dr Lieu on Wednesday morning as there was not enough panadol. To be on the safe side, Dr Lieu checked her body, hands (for traces of HFMD) and her ears (for ear infection). Everything was fine so Dr Lieu said it could most probably be due to the MMR. She prescribed a bottle of paracetamol (wrong spelling?) and nurofen (if the fever went up to 38.5 and above).
Her fever stayed till Thursday morning and all was well. During the fever stint, she was still as active and naughty as before. :p
As for the freak accident stated in the title, she had her first serious bleeding yesterday. I was preparing to go out for dinner in the bathroom when I heard hubby asking Kristy to be careful. Then she cried out loud suddenly. I rushed out immediately and asked what happened to her. According to hubby, she was walking/running in the living room. She walked behind the fan and tripped on the wire. Then she hit her face onto the side wall. Hubby carried her to soothe her and realised she was bleeding profusely from her lips. She kept crying and crying while we were trying to stop her bleeding. But the blood kept on flowing. We gave her some water, hoping to flush away the blood inside her mouth. It was real bloody. Her shirt was stained, my shirt was stained. After a few minutes her bleeding finally stopped. The cut looked serious. Initially I thought it was only the lower lips because I could only see the cut there. But this morning, I saw another cut at her upper lips. No wonder the bleeding was so serious. And I was so scared that her teeth might be chipped or could have dropped off. An ucler started to form at her lower lip today. But luckily she could still finish her milk this morning.
My heart dropped when I saw the bleeding last night. It was a terrible heart pain and the usual me, just kept blaming my hubby for not looking after her properly. But deep now I knew that he himself would like want this to happen but at that moment, I just need to blame someone for the pain that Kristy suffered.
MMR Jab
Written by Karen
Tuesday, 11 July 2006
Kristy had her MMR jab today. It was supposed to be last Tuesday but it clashed with my course, thus I had to postpone it to today. Before the jab, I was asking myself if she would cry this time as for the past few jabs she did not cry a bit.
For today's visit, I did not carry her into the room. I let her walked in by herself. The nurse was commenting, "Ooo big girl already." :p When we were in the room, the nurse asked me to lock the door as kids like Kristy's age will tend to roam about. And sure enough, she tried to open the door by pressing on the door handle. But luckily, I had locked it. :p
During the consultation, while the nurse was asking me questions, Kristy was busy walking around. She even followed another nurse to the other room and waved bye-bye to me. -_-"
The nurse asked if Kristy knows how to talk. I told her not really. She can call Ah-Fu (my brother), Ah Po (my mother). Then she seemed to look worry and asked me if she knew another other words. Then I said, hmm oo yah.. Ball. And the nurse looked relieved. (blur ??) She asked me if she knew how to call me and my hubby. I told her hmm a bit because she will only call out Pa and Ma is an inaudible voice. The nurse also passed me some panadols. She said to give Kristy a dose (1 tablet) upon reaching home as fever might come within today, if not 5-6 days later. I asked her how come other polyclinics visited by my friends never advise them to eat the panadol after the jab. But she did not really reply me. I had also booked for a date for Kristy to take the chicken pox vaccine, next month on 15th August.
Her weight and height did not change much. Currently she's weighing at 11.6kg (90 percentile)and 81.5cm (75 percentile) tall. Her head circumference is 47cm (90 percentile).
Then came the moment. The moment of pain. I had to hold Kristy in a sleeping position. Head resting on my left arm, her right hand behind me, her legs in between my legs. I held on to her left arm while Kristy was wondering what was going to happen. She looked on when the nurse was preparing the jab. She continued to look on when the nurse inserted the needle into her arm and then.......she cried out when the needle was being pulled out.
I told Kristy, "What happened, girl? You don't cry 1 mah, why this time you cry?" She cried for a while more even when we were out of the room. Then she stopped crying when my mother passed her the water bottle for her to drink some barley water.
We waited outside the room for around 15 minutes. Then I let the nurse checked on Kristy before leaving (as was instructed by the nurse). By then, Kristy had already forgotten what had happened inside the room and happily waved bye-bye to the nurse. :p
Hopefully there will not be any fever. *pray*

I'm back!

Saturday, 24 June 2006
Hi all, yah I'm back but then I'm back with only back-dated photos. I've added them into Kristy's gallery. Feel free to take a look at them.
Had been really busy with work. No time to sit down to update this site. Kristy is fine. (Still 7 teeth only.) Getting more grown up and of course more rebellious. She prefers to do things on her own instead of us helping us. She's also very helpful. She will help us to bring in the clothes from the kitchen to the living room or bedroom. She will clear her toys back into the toy box when told. But all these will also depend on her mood. Heh. She's beginning to call me and other family members but not really audible but can make from her lips.
Time really passes by fast. She's going to be 15 months old end of this month. So fast till we couldn't remember how she looked like when she was younger. Hubby commented once that he seemed to have miss out on her development.
Soon it will come to a day whereby she is going to school, to work... and soon have a boyfriend, a family. Too fast........can time slow down a bit so that we can enjoy her company longer? *i wish*

Busy

So peepz, I'm very busy with work recently. And will not have the mood to update the blog when I reached home due to tiredness and many dead brain cells.
So for this month of June (hopefully), I will not be updating often or maybe not at all. Hope I can resume the updating of Kristy's development from July onwards.
And to my MSN kakis, I will not be logging in to MSN during work often too. Maybe once a while for a short while. If there're any urgent matters, please drop me an email or sms me.
But now, like Melissa, I'm just too tired to blog. 腰酸背痛.
PD Visit
Written by Karen
Tuesday, 23 May 2006
Brought Kristy to see the PD yesterday because of the red spots appearing on her legs. She had been scratching non-stop, so obviously, it's very itchy. These red spots kept on appearing and disappearing and appearing again. Endless loop, I would describe it as.
So decided to bring her to the PD to see what's wrong and hoping to get the Gentriderm cream again. But the PD said it's not advisable to apply Gentriderm repeatedly as the cream is very strong. So she gave Kristy another cream, Hydrodem C (I think I got the spelling wrong, will update the correct name tonight). PD said the red spots could be due to the inflamation of hair follicles called Folliculitis (Ok, this is also the first time I heard about it). I think it could also be prickly heat. Weather is just too hot recently, which might have worsen her condition.
Hope everything will be back to normal soon. Can't bear to see so many scratches on both her legs. :(
Ooo, and her weight is currently now 11.01kg and 81cm tall. I was telling my mother, 9cm more and Kristy would need to pay for rides on the buses, mrts and lrts.
