5-6 steps
Written by Karen
Thursday, 16 February 2006

It all happened suddenly and I didn't manage to video it down!!

Kristy walked for about 5 to 6 steps unassisted. And she did it twice. But I didn't manage to record it down!! Argh!!!!!!

It was very nice to see her walk. And the way she walked was also very funny. Hahaha

LittleTouch™ LeapPad® Learning System
Written by Karen
Wednesday, 15 February 2006

We bought the LittleTouch™ LeapPad® Learning System - Pink for Kristy on Sunday. Since we still had $80 of Kiddy Palace vouchers, we decided to utilize it before it expires in April. I saw the price tag showing $89.90. But when I paid at the counter, their system reflected $99.95 when I checked the receipt. I told the staff (let's call her A) that the price was wrong. A kept insisting that the price shown on their system would be the updated price. I argued with her saying that customers see what they saw on the price tag. They wouldn't know the price in their system. So after all the "ding ding dong dong" here and there, A decided to let me have the price of what I saw. But she still insist $99.95 is the correct price. Duhz!

I tried the LeapPad on Monday night after recharging my AA batteries. It was quite educational I felt. It has features that teaches colors, alphabets, shapes, etc. It encourages interaction between the user (which is me, in this case) and the LeapPad. I used the LeapPad in front of Kristy but she didn't seem to be interested in it. She looked more interested with the cushion attached at the back of the LeapPad. Guess she's still too young to use it then. Will introduce to her another day.

For those who wants to buy it, I've found a SAHM who is selling at a cheaper price, $70. You can find her here.

MUMMY!
Written by Karen
Monday, 13 February 2006

As usual, mother called me after lunch time. She then passed the phone over to Kristy. The usual blabbering here and there. And suddenly, Kristy said "MUMMY" loud and clear! Keke.

Of course, I was happy as well as caught unaware. I "flew" up and nearly hit the ceiling. Haha. But she only said it once. I think it's like 碰巧. But I'm still happy. :p

She really understand?

We (my parents and us) were on the way to breakfast this morning. My mother and I were talking about childcare centre. Then my mother said in front of Kristy, "OK, put you in the childcare centre. Porpor doesn't want to look after you already."

Kristy looked up. Then suddenly she protested! She cried. Haha. My mother sayang her and said "OK, no no no. Porpor wants you. Don't send you to childcare centre." I was wondering, is it a coincidence or she really understood? So I asked my mother to try again. Kristy cried again after my mother completed her sentence. Faintz. So what do you all think? :p

Will try again soon. Kekeke

舞狮

This morning there was a lion dance performance by West Spring Secondary School. It's to promote Harmony @ Senja. A bottle of F&N Orange and 2 Mandarin oranges were distributed to all households @ Senja Grand. Which is 6 blocks of flats -- 1440 households.

After Kristy's morning bath, we brought her downstairs to watch the performance. She was curious about everything, the "lion", the music and the crowds. She sat down quietly, watching the performance. This is her first time watching the lion dance. I wonder if she likes it. :p

After that, we brought her to the Kopitiam because hubby wanted to buy breakfast. While waiting for him to buy his breakfast, I let Kristy had a try on the kiddy ride. She likes it! :) More lucky she didn't cry when the ride ended. Keke.

Walk? Run?
Written by Karen
Thursday, 09 February 2006

Hubby was trying to see if Kristy can walk last night. So he did a little experiment.

He let Kristy stand properly first, then he let go of his hands. With a short distance gap (like an average adult's 1 feet away), he encouraged Kristy to walk towards him. And Kristy surprised him. She managed to run walk towards him. Haha.

Hubby asked me out from the kitchen to look at the experiment. He tried it one more time and I managed to see it. It was so funny at the way she ran walked. I was laughing loudly with lots of joy.

I tried to show it to my mother this morning but Kristy just would not want to show her newly acquired skills to my mother. :p

Flying Kiss
Written by Karen
Monday, 23 January 2006

Porpor has been teaching Kristy how to do flying kiss. Last week, Kristy showed it to me what she had learnt. :p

When we said "pan kiss", she will move her index finger near to her mouth and away. Most of the times, she will pretend pretend and put the finger into her mouth to bite. Haha.

Hmm, but she still doesn't know how to "Gong Xi Gong Xi".

*Edited title cos not shouldn't be termed as french kiss..haha*

Some updates

Hmm, just some random updates.

Chinatown Trip
Brought Kristy to Chinatown for a walk yesterday. It was quite a last minute decision. Initially, I just wanted to bring Kristy over to my parents' place since they hadn't seen her for a week. When we reached, my mother said they (my mother and father) were preparing to go down to Chinatown. So we tagged along, and Kristy in her home clothes (a singlet plus a pair of shorts). Whahaha.

She was fascinated by the lanterns hanging over. And every round or nearly round things that she saw, she would point at them and said "Bor" (ball in cantonese). And when we walked away from the "Bor", she will scream. -_-"

Hair Cut
Brought her to Junior's League at Suntec for her first professional hair cut. Costs $12 after the Suntec privilege card discount. She was okay from the start, curious about the surroundings, scissors, hair stylist, etc. We tried to get her attention on the tv, but not successful. Apparently, she was not interested in Barney. Haha.

Towards the end of the hair cut, she started to cry. The hair stylist got to change to the electric shaver instead of slowing cutting her hair with the scissors. And she cried even more when the stylist tried to vaccum the hair from her clothes. Even brushing off doesn't stop her from crying. Maybe it's a new experience for her and she's not used to it. Hope it will be better the second time. :)

Updates
1. She also knows how to put the pacifier back into her mouth. If she can't do it the first time, she will throw the pacifier onto the floor angrily and pick it up to try again. Attitude problem. -_-"

2. Will call out "Bor" (ball in cantonese) when she sees something round or nearly round. Things like the zebra crossing lamps, watermelons, oranges, balls, etc.

Wave bye bye
Written by Karen
Thursday, 12 January 2006

Kristy knows how to wave bye-bye now. :)

Sometimes she will do it by closing her 5 fingers, sometimes will be waving her hand. Very cute. :)

She will also close her 5 fingers when we sing "一闪一闪亮晶晶". :p

Pa-pa, Ma-ma
Written by Karen
Wednesday, 11 January 2006

Kristy started to utter "pa-pa", "ma-ma" since Monday. She just said it non-stop. Apparently she doesn't know what is she saying. Whahaha. This morning, she looked at me and said "ma-ma" for quite a few times. But I think she also doesn't mean anything. Kekeke.

Yesterday was a public holiday, Hari Raya Haji. So hubby was around. He was sitting on her playmat against the sofa. Kristy was playing near him. Then in a blink of eyes, Kristy stepped on her father's thighs and climbed up the sofa. !!!!!!! faintz. Better not put anything near the sofa else she will take the chance to climb up. New headache. -_-"
